To ensure a smooth recovery, please follow these guidelines:
01. Rest and Recovery
Allow yourself time to rest. Avoid strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and intense exercise for at least 24-48 hours. Ensure you have someone available to assist you with daily tasks during the initial recovery period.
02. Pain Management
You may experience mild cramping or discomfort. Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as Tylenol 500mg-1000mg and Advil Extra Strength. If prescribed pain medication, take it as directed.
03. Hydration and Nutrition
Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water. This is important for recovery. Eat light, easily digestible meals to support your body's healing process.
04. Monitoring and Reporting
Monitor for any signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, or unusual discharge. Report any concerns promptly to your healthcare provider.
05. Vaginal Bleeding
Light to moderate vaginal bleeding or spotting is normal after a D&C. Use sanitary pads rather than tampons during this time. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience heavy or prolonged bleeding.
06. Follow-Up Appointments
Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your healthcare team. Discuss any concerns or questions you may have about the recovery process.
07. Emotional Well-being
It's normal to have a range of emotions post-procedure. Reach out to your support network or consider counselling if needed. Focus on self-care and engage in activities that bring you comfort and relaxation.
08. Work and Activities
Depending on your job and the nature of your daily activities, you may need to take some time off. Discuss this with your healthcare provider.
Remember, everyone's recovery is unique. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to your team for guidance. Wishing you a smooth and comfortable recovery.
